Accessibility

We want Climate Prescience’s research and services to be usable by as many people as possible. Our accessibility target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA.

Using the website

• Use the skip link to reach the main content. All navigation, map settings and expandable sections can be reached with a keyboard.
• Focus the map and use the arrow keys to pan, or use the labelled pan buttons. The + and − controls zoom; the area selector and “All New Zealand” button provide shortcuts.
• Each map has a text description of its broad spatial patterns, a written colour key and its scientific context. Open “Read a description of this map” below the explorer.
• You can enlarge text and use your browser’s zoom. The layout adapts to smaller screens, and motion is reduced when your device requests it.
• Analytics cookies are optional and are not required for any content or controls.

Assessment and limitations

We review keyboard operation, focus visibility, colour contrast, text enlargement and reduced-motion behaviour alongside automated checks. Automated scores do not establish full WCAG conformance, and this site has not received independent accessibility certification.

The maps contain detailed geographical patterns. Their text descriptions summarise the broad patterns rather than individual grid cells. If you need local climate information, a different format or help using the explorer, please contact us. We can discuss an accessible format appropriate to your question.
